Today, the digital yuan pilot is in full swing. With the continuous promotion of digital RMB and the convenience of transaction settlement brought by new payment methods, scammers are gradually active, and all kinds of new scams under the banner of "digital RMB" emerge in endlessly.
Many police disclosure! Includes these new types of scams
By combing through the digital RMB fraud cases disclosed by the police in many places recently, it can be seen that the fraud is mainly divided into the following types:
1. Fraudsters inform users of violations of laws and regulations by posing as official agencies or public security laws, forcing them to "cooperate with the work" to open digital renminbi wallets, so that they can exchange the money in the bank card into digital renminbi, and then transfer it to other target accounts, and finally transfer the fraudulent funds. Due to the strong security and concealment of digital RMB, it is almost difficult for public security organs to find the flow of funds through general investigation techniques.
Case: On November 2, 2021, Ms. Liao received a call from a strange man claiming to be Beijing Miyun Public Security Bureau, saying that he had opened a credit card in Beijing and was suspected of laundering money, and that all bank accounts under his name needed to be investigated. Ms. Liao, who believed it, transferred the funds in her bank account to her new bank card according to the other party's suggestion, and downloaded and registered the so-called "security guard" APP. After downloading, Ms. Liao opened the "digital RMB" function according to the other party's prompt operation, and provided the SMS verification code to the other party. In the end, Ms. Liao was defrauded by the other party in the form of "public security law" fraud and the use of "digital RMB" for fund transfer, a total of 370,000 yuan.
2. Fraudsters defraud users by impersonating public security laws and official agencies, using telephone fraud, sending fake digital renminbi booking SMS messages, etc., inducing users to click on false links, or downloading fake apps.
On October 28 this year, a public in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, encountered fraud posing as a public prosecutor, the other party to the victim suspected of money laundering, requiring the victim to "self-prove innocence", providing personal information, bank card number, mobile phone verification code, recording selfie videos, etc., and through a shared screen, remotely instructing the victim to operate. Subsequently, the fraudsters opened a digital RMB wallet for the victim, exchanged the funds in the victim's industrial and commercial bank card to the digital wallet, and then transferred the "digital RMB" to other digital wallets. The victims were defrauded of a total of 79,000 yuan.
Third, under the guise of activities, financial investment, the promotion of "digital RMB" projects with high returns, defrauding users to recharge and cheat money to run away. This is a common new scam in which fraudsters take advantage of users' ignorance of digital payment methods, especially the elderly.
An elderly man in Beijing recently received a netizen's promotion, claiming that after collecting six digital yuan bank cards sent by the central bank, he can exchange 1 million yuan digital yuan between the New Year's Day and the Winter Olympics in 2022, and the money is said to be used to participate in the construction of a state-backed nursing home. In the process of fraud, the netizen also took a photo and sent the old man a "digital RMB bank card", the front of the card is printed with the words "digital currency activation card", the 16-digit "card number, and the back of the card is also printed with a reminder that" digital currency card is universal." Fortunately, the old man finally saw through the scam with the help of his family.
