Monex Europe has hired Tim Philip as Director of Global Operations

Monex Europe announced on Wednesday that it has strengthened its leadership team by hiring Tim Philip as Director of Global Operations. Philip will be based in London and will report directly to Chief Executive Nick Edgeley.

In his new role, Philip will oversee the company's operations, projects and legal teams in six countries: the United Kingdom, Spain, the Netherlands, Canada, Luxembourg and Singapore. He will focus on implementing operational best practices and driving strategic thinking.

Dr. Theocharides of CySEC becomes Chair of ESMA's Standing Committee on Risk

CySEC Chair Dr George Theocharides has taken on additional responsibilities as the first Chair of the Standing Committee on Risk, which is part of ESMA. His term is two years, from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024.

The RSC is the successor to the Economic and Market Analysis Committee, a standing committee that Dr. Theocharides has chaired since March 2022.

The RSC's role is to monitor developments in financial markets, assess systemic risks, and provide economic context to ESMA's general mandate. In addition, the Committee's responsibilities extend to risk analysis related to consumer, ESG, innovation, and other emerging issues.

Michael Logue rejoins IG as Head of Product and Marketing

Michael Logue has rejoined IG Group's London office after a year at tastytrade. He has now been appointed Head of Product and Marketing for Europe at IG.

Last January, he joined tastytrade as an interim vice president of growth. He intended to remain in the temporary position for another six months, but ended up staying there for a year. IG completed its $1 billion acquisition of tastytrade in June last year to expand into the U.S. options trading market.

He has been with IG for about 11 years. He joined the broker as a revenue analyst in January 2012 and has been climbing the corporate ladder for years.

Century Financial has promoted Mahmoud Elarev to Vice President of Private Wealth

Century Financial has promoted Mahmoud Elaref from Senior financial Analyst to Vice President of Private Wealth. The promotion comes five years after Elaref joined the privately held company.

The financial analyst, who has worked in Cairo, Egypt and Dubai for about 16 years, announced his promotion on LinkedIn on Monday.

Prior to joining Century Financial, Elaref was an account Manager at Henda Global. He spent nearly two years in that role, driving new sales for the online forex and CFD trading firm.

Bloomberg promoted Paula Fry to global head of fixed income and currency trading liquidity

Bloomberg has promoted Paula Fry to global head of fixed income and currency trading liquidity, following a similar role but limited to the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. She has taken over her new responsibilities in London.

Fry has worked at Bloomberg for the past seven years. She joined the company in October 2015 in a role at London-based FXGO Sales, where she was responsible for the buy side of the city's forex market. Over the years, she has climbed the company's ranks, holding positions including multi-asset execution services, fixed income buy-side sales, and Head of EMEA eFX Sales.

ActivTrades has promoted Vikesh Purohit to head of UK and DACH

ActivTrades has promoted Vikesh Kumar Purohit to head of UK and DACH markets. He is based in London and has taken over new roles and responsibilities.

Prohit's promotion came after more than three years at the agency. He joined ActivTrades in October 2019 and was a senior Account Manager prior to his promotion. In addition, he worked with the broker for approximately three years between October 2014 and August 2017 in sales-related roles.

His experience in the online trading industry spans more than a decade. He entered the industry with IG, a major London brand offering counterparty trading services. There, he only spent six months in IG's German trading services division, providing clients with calculations to demonstrate the key characteristics of several trading types.

ASX has appointed Daniel Moran as permanent Head of Compliance

The Australian Securities Exchange Limited (ASX) on Monday announced the appointment of Daniel Moran as Chief Compliance Officer with effect from 1 January 2023. He has held the role of CCO since Jenny Ryan stepped down in October 2022.

In addition to taking up the CCO role in a permanent capacity, Moran resigned as ASX Company Secretary, a position he had held for the past five years. According to his LinkedIn profile, he became ASX's group General Counsel and company secretary in November 2017.
