According to the IPO documents submitted by Arm (ARM. US) on Tuesday, Apple (AAPL. US) has signed a new agreement with Arm on chip technology, which will "extend beyond 2040", according to the Zhitong Finance APP.

ARM announced the pricing of its IPO on Tuesday, with an expected IPO size of $52 billion, making it the largest IPO in the United States this year. Arm stated in a document that its owner, Softbank Group, plans to sell 95.5 million shares of Arm's ADSs for $47 to $51 per share.

Arm owns the intellectual property behind most of the world's smartphone computing architectures and licenses it to Apple and many other companies. Apple used Arm's technology in designing custom chips for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

These two companies have a long history - Apple was one of the first companies to establish a partnership with ARM in 1990, and later released the "Newton" handheld computer using ARM processor chips in 1993. Although "Newton" failed, ARM continued to dominate the mobile chip industry because its low power consumption helped extend battery life.

On Tuesday, several large technology companies, including Apple, invested $735 million in Arm's IPO. Apple is one of the strategic investors who agreed to purchase the company's stock.

Arm did not mention the transaction disclosed on Tuesday in the IPO documents released on August 21st, which means that the transaction was signed between August 21st and September 5th.
