Recently, the photos of American Chinese Internet celebrities have been stolen by fraudsters, which also makes people start to pay attention to the real life of those "rich handsome" and "white rich beautiful" photos commonly used by fraudsters.
Many South African celebrities have fallen victim to online scams or had their social media accounts hacked.
Letoya Makhene (born 7 September 1984) is a South African actress, singer and television personality. She is known for her performances in The popular South African soap operas Isidingo and Generations:The Legacy.
Recently, someone exposed her involvement in investment scams in an IoL article, in which a man accused Letoya of running a bitcoin investment scam.
Letoya took to her Instagram to clarify the alleged bitcoin scam in a video. She explained that she was doing iDlozi's job, had never invested in bitcoin, and did not understand what the cryptocurrency company did.
She also responded to the man who accused her: "Don't make your problems my problems. My account was verified on social media. I've also filed complaints about all the fake accounts. I don't cheat money, I don't do bitcoin, I don't do forex, I don't ask people to call me money."
Letoya declined to respond to the authors of the IOL article, saying: "This is a form of slander."
Skeem Saam actor and Thobela FM host Sebasa Mohale, who was involved in a bitcoin scam scandal, is preparing to take legal action against those who have filed fraud lawsuits against him.
His lawyer, Mr Mphahlele, said the cases were baseless.
"At this stage, his reputation has been damaged by false allegations and he reserves the right to Sue all parties involved in damaging his reputation for defamation."
