The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) is mandated by the Swiss government to supervise various financial institutions in its capacity as a supervisory authority. FINMA's forex dealers are required by law to be registered as banks, but there are still unregistered companies offering financial services locally or claiming to be based in Switzerland.
