The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) has published its annual summary for 2022. By the end of 2022, the number of entities supervised by the regulator totaled 837, an increase of 3.9 percent compared to 806 in 2021.


That's up 12 percent from 2019, before the outbreak. In addition, at the end of 2022, about 100 new applications are under review and awaiting approval.


In the past year, the Cyprus Financial Supervisory Authority has approved 86 licence applications for various entities under its supervision. Six applications for Cyprus Investment Company (CIFs) licences were rejected and 15 applications were withdrawn, including those for CIF licences and collective investments.


In addition, CySEC imposed a total of about 2.9 million euros in administrative fines in 2022, the vast majority of which related to fines and settlements in Cyprus Investment companies.
